The contents of this web site are inspired by and primarily derived from the writings of Lucio Nalesini, former professor at Bangkok's Chulalongkorn University, Faculty of Arts, Department of European Language, Italian Section.

The University of Primorska in Koper (Capodistria) Slovenia published in 2000 in the Journal of Istrian and Mediterranean Studies an article authored by Professor Nalesini titled:

"GRASSI BROTHERS & Co. L'ARCHITETTO CAPODISTRIANO GIOACHINO GRASSl  E  FRATELLI  NELLA  BANGKOK Dl FINE SECOLO XIX"      ("Grassi Brothers & Co. The Capodistrian Architect Gioachino Grassi and Brothers in Bangkok at the End of the 19th Century")

This article describes the tomb of Antonio deGrassi located in Koper and, as background, gives a history of the Grassi family in (then) Capodistria) and of the three Grassi brothers in Bangkok and later Italy.

Two other papers written by Prof. Nalesini cover essentially the same material but also provide more detail on the history of the family and on Nalesini's personal connection with the tomb. These are:

"Una Tomba in stile Siamese a Capodistria-Koper -- Slovenia"

  "The Family Grassi"

The latter two have been reproduced on this website; the journal article will be added once the formatting is completed. The reader may find these stories redundant however there is different information in each.

This website is dedicated to la famiglia deGrassi and to Lucio Nalesini
