Alberto Biagio moved the family from Capodistria to Trieste around 1900 and opened up the Caffe Armonia. Named for the Teatro Armonia next door, the caffe sat across the street from Piazza Goldoni.
The caffe sat in front of a shoe store which expanded to take in the space occupied by Caffe Armonia. The shop, Castiglioni, is still owned by the same family.
For a time the family lived in the same building, the Casa Sordina, the entry of which is on a side street, Corso Umberto Saba. The building itself has some interesting history.
